Early on in the probate process, the house was subject to vagrants breaking in. The property was supposed to close escrow quickly, but that soon went out the window.
Stories of drug addicts hanging out in the yard and camping out, odors of smoke in the house, etc., soon made their way to me…long before I officially owned the home.
The police had to come to the house several times.

A Scary Situation
I was there one day and noticed that someone had been in the home since the last time I was there
Shaving cream had been sprayed everywhere.
Someone had also been lighting matches and candles, rifling through all of the stuff in the house, spray painting graffiti here and there and basically making more of a mess than the house was already in.
I called the police because I was afraid they were still in the house.
They came immediately. GUNS DRAWN…
“We know you’re in there, come out with your hands up!”
It was alike a scene from a movie
A bit exciting, lol.
They deemed the property clear of suspects.
They then informed me that someone had to clear out all of the brush and mess in the yard where the transients were hiding out at night and put up a security fence around the property to keep them out.
REALLY???
I had to get permission from the probate attorney to secure the home before the house was even mine.
At MY EXPENSE!
But I really loved this house and I didn’t want her to burn down. She really deserves so much better!
I enlisted the help of longtime friend and trusted company owner Tim Ohnstad of Timberland Tree Service.
I’ll never forget when Tim showed up to the property to give me an estimate.
While he loved the house I could see he was very concerned about my sanity, lol.
We proceeded to walk the property and decided that since the trees and random, overgrown, half dead shrubbery were very sick and completely infested with just about every insect and parasite imaginable that we would have it all removed.
None of the trees or shrubbery were of historical value, most of it was planted in the 70’s or later.
There was no real plan in the original landscape. It was a horrible tangle of weeds and dying shrubs and trees.

Tim & his crew showed up early one morning and transformed the back & front yards into a much more presentable & livable condition.
