Restoration Of A Historic Home

Tiny House Living In A Trailer

So many of you have been asking me one very important question.

Where are YOU LIVING during this renovation?

Some of you have even made me laugh out loud with your concerns of:

Surely, you’re NOT LIVING in THAT house, are you?

LOL, rest assured. I am safe.

Let’s just say I am:

Tiny House Living In A Trailer

Isn’t that ALL the rage now?

Rent A House or Buy A Trailer

I considered renting a house.

The rates in San Pedro are much more affordable than in some other areas I have lived in Los Angeles.

And just blocks from the OCEAN!

But, alas, who would rent a house to a woman with 4 dogs!  Yes, 4 DOGS!

I did the math.  It would cost me quite a bit more to rent a house for about 1 1/2 to 2 years

Which is likely what I am looking at.

Thank you CRAIGSLIST for once again coming to the rescue.

I found this great 5th Wheel which is actually, very much like a nice hotel suite!

The owner had just purchased an ENORMOUS  RV and needed to dump this 5th wheel fast.

I wasn’t fond of the idea of living in a trailer, but this little baby is pretty darn nice inside.

Don’t let her exterior fool you.  It had only 2 owners before me and was hardly ever used.

It is FULLY LOADED with lots of amenities

The magic happens when you open up the 3 LARGE Slidouts.

It goes from 8 Feet wide to about 15 feet wide. AMAZING!

(Photos courtesy of Johnnie Walker RV, but this is exactly like my trailer)

I LOVE the 2 full-sized swivel recliners. So comfy, and that huge picture/bay window is awesome!

If I had the time I WOULD PAINT EVERYTHING WHITE

Shabby Chic it up a bit

Make it a “SHE SHED”

Oh! Couldn’t you just picture it? It would be so charming!

I am ADDICTED to painting everything around me, nothing is SAFE!

BUT…I digress

Tiny House Living In A Trailer

I don’t plan to keep it.  This is temporary!

Here’s a better look at the inside!

Tiny House Living In A Trailer

It really is like a little house or a hotel suite.

All solid oak cabinetry and woodwork, stone countertops

Double sink, microwave, stove, IN CEILING speakers, 2 Air conditioners!

A love seat that opens up into a full-sized bed

Tiny House Living In A Trailer

It really feels like a little house.

My neighbors were all quite shocked at how nice it is inside.

I was too!

The seats of the chairs flip up for storage, not sure what I’m supposed to put in there

The pups have crates tucked under the desk and in front of the TV.

4 crates, for 4 pups.

Not so fun, but they have adjusted quite nicely to their new lifestyle

Yes, that is plastic on the carpets.

I put it on mine too…

Because after-all… I live on a dirt lot with 4 hyper little dogs

It can get very dirty

Very fast!

The plastic sticks to the carpet and keeps the dirt out!

The trailer boasts a large bedroom with a real QUEEN Sized bed and a wall of Sliding, Mirrored closets.

Mine came with this bedspread, but I have since upgraded to all my favorite down bedding.

OMG, look at all the closets and storage!

There are even laundry hookups in the closet!

It has a very large Shower (far right of photo) with a skylight

Love the built in dresser with large picture window

Now to get this Monster into the backyard!

As you can see, this is a BEAST!

I had to have the gate in the alley taken down in order to move it into the yard.

Unfortunately using the truck proved to be a failure.  It just couldn’t clear all the fences and gates in the alley.

My neighbor very kindly told me I could remove part of the block wall….

Ummmm! No WAY!  Not doing that!

The trailer sat parked IN THE ALLEY

FOR 1 WEEK!

I searched for an option to get this thing in the yard.

NO FUN!

Enter this little Cutie Pie : Michael Bradley of TRIPLE R JUNK HAULING (They can move anything, seriously)

I found him on CRAIGSLIST…Where else?

He showed up with the proper equipment, and an ingenious way to move a 5th wheel.

He simply strapped a 5th Wheel Hitch to the fork attachement on his Kubota Bobcat and hitched it to the kingpin.

My mouth fell open.  I had been trying to find someone for a week that had a special hitch attachment for a forklift with NO luck.

Who knew?

He truly was a lifesaver for me!

After-all…

I certainly couldn’t live in the alley

And just like that an amazing thing happened.

He made it look SO easy!

And here she came to rest in her current spot in the yard

It really is a BEAST!

UGH!

Look at all the DIRT!
